Per-viewer watermarking
Every viewer sees the same document carrying their own identity. If a page turns up somewhere it should not, the mark on it says who opened it.

What it does
Watermarking stamps each viewer's identity onto the document they see, discouraging a screenshot from circulating without a trace back to who opened it.
Because the mark is tied to the viewer rather than to the file, two people opening the same document do not see the same page. One leaked screenshot is therefore attributable, which is the point: the deterrent is knowing the copy is identifiable, not preventing the screenshot itself.
Why it pairs with the access gate
A watermark identifies a viewer you have already identified. That is why it works alongside the verified-email gate and one-time codes rather than instead of them: the gate establishes who is opening the room, and the watermark carries that identity onto the page.
On a link opened by an unverified visitor there is less to stamp, so the two features are worth turning on together when the document genuinely matters.

The watermark is applied to the shared-link preview. Member roles include viewer with download, so where attribution must persist, do not grant download permission.
