Why bother
Do not take our word for any of it.
Every vendor in this category writes its own comparison page and marks its own homework. We would rather hand you the marking pen. Connect the public server, then ask Claude the awkward questions: what is actually included on the free plan, what the audit trail records, where the data is hosted, which certifications belong to us and which belong to our infrastructure providers. The answers come from the same content we publish, so a gap between the pitch and the product has nowhere to hide.
As far as we know, nobody else in the virtual data room market lets you do this. That is the point of running it.
Setup
Two routes, both of them short.
The endpoint is a standard MCP server over streamable HTTP, so anything that speaks the protocol can reach it:

Claude on the web or desktop
Per Anthropic's current documentation as at 1 September 2026, Claude accepts custom connectors that point at a remote MCP server. In settings, add a custom connector and give it the URL above. Because the public server needs no credentials, there is no sign-in step and nothing to approve on our side. If the labels have moved since this page was written, you are looking for whatever adds a remote MCP server by URL.
Claude Code
One command, from any project directory:

Command syntax is Anthropic's, not ours, and is stated as at 1 September 2026. If it has changed, their documentation wins.
The other half
Letting Claude read your own rooms.
The public server and your data rooms are two different things, and we keep them apart on purpose. Assistant access to the rooms you own runs on a separate authenticated endpoint, it is a Business and Enterprise capability, and it is off until you switch it on room by room. Once connected, Claude can list the rooms you chose, read and search the documents in them, look at earlier versions, read the Q&A raised through your share links and see how much of each document has genuinely been read.

AI assistant access is rolling out to Business and Enterprise accounts. If the connection step does not find the server yet, it has not reached your account.
The honest boundary
Read only means read only.
The public server cannot write, and cannot see anything that is not already published on this website. Ask Claude to update a document through it and nothing happens, because no such tool exists for it to call. That limit is deliberate and permanent: a server that anyone on the internet may connect to without signing in has no business holding a write action. It also means Claude reads our published claims, not our internal reality, which is why the pages it reads are the ones we tie to tests. How we think about that is on trust and security.

Questions
The ones people actually ask.
Do I need a 99 Data Rooms account to connect Claude to the public server?
No. The public server is open and read-only. It answers questions about the product from our own documentation, glossary, pricing and use-cases, and it reaches no account data and no customer documents at all. Connect it before you buy anything, precisely so you can check what we say.
Can Claude read my own data rooms?
That is a separate, authenticated capability on Business and Enterprise, with its own endpoint, its own consent screen and its own room-by-room switches. It is not the public server, and nothing you do on the public server touches your documents. The full contract is on our AI assistants page.
Will Claude change anything?
Not through the public server, which is read-only and exposes nothing but published reference content. On the authenticated route, write access is granted separately from read, and nothing on either route can delete, rename, move or archive anything.
Which Claude surfaces can connect?
Any client that speaks Model Context Protocol over streamable HTTP. Per Anthropic's current documentation as at 1 September 2026 that includes Claude on the web and desktop, through its custom connector settings, and Claude Code through its command line. Third-party interfaces change, so treat the exact wording of a menu as a hint rather than a promise.
Does connecting the public server send Claude anything of mine?
The public server holds nothing of yours to send. On the authenticated route it is different, and worth reading before you enable it: the room contents an assistant reads go to your own AI provider under your agreement with them, not ours.
